Lunch 'n Learn: The Soldiers Fell Like Autumn Leaves by Rick Schoenfield

Wednesday, May 15, 2024 7 Iyar 5784

12:30 PM - 2:00 PM

CEC's own Rick Schoenfield will discuss his new book, The Soldiers Fell Like Autumn Leaves: The Battle of the Wabash, the United States' Greatest Defeat in the Wars Against Indigenous Peoples. The Battle of the Wabash occurred in 1791, in America’s first war after independence, close to the Ohio-Indiana border. Rick places these events in the context of the times and analyzes why critical decisions, both effective and catastrophic, were made. He also describes how this was a war to determine whether the environment would remain the same, a vast woodland, or would be fundamentally altered by deforestation.

Rick will have a few signed copies available for purchase (cash or check).  All proceeds will be donated to the Lifelong Learning Committee.
